Hours: 11am - 8pm
The 7th Annual Vandergrift Fine Arts Festival will be held on September 28, 2013 from 11 am to 8 pm on Grant Avenue in historic downtown Vandergrift. The festival will feature regional artists exhibiting their works in booths along Grant Avenue, children's activities, food, live entertainment, and wine tasting.
Our Featured artist this year is Photographer Bob Patterson of North Braddock, Pennsylvania. He photographs flora, fauna, and history. Bob and Christine's repertoire of work includes covered bridges, barns, lighthouses, horses, birds, bears, cougars, butterflies, and scenic views. The intent of his photography is to show this country's diversity and thereby encourage those who view the photographs to go out and explore.
Deadline for artist applications is Sept 1st.
Deadline for Chalk Walk applications is September 13th.
The Paint a Palette Program, which has been a unique feature of the arts festival in the past, will continue in 2013 with artists painting scenes on wooden palettes. These palettes will line the streets of Vandergrift's business district from June through October attracting art enthusiasts and shoppers.
The Annual Southwest Pennsylvania High School Chalkwalk competition will be continuing in 2013. Groups of three students each from Southwestern Pennsylvania high schools will be given an 8 ft x 10 ft space within which to create sidewalk chalk masterpieces according to this year's festival theme. The Chalk Walk Competition will begin at 12 pm on September 28th. Students will have until 4 pm to complete their murals, at which point a panel of three professional artists will judge them. There will also be a People's Choice Award. Come out and vote on your favorite mural.
